Ronald "Ron" John Highet, 56, of Rochester, MN, passed away heroically on July 20, 2025. Born on March 4, 1969, in Rochester to Duane Highet and Ione (Helland) Speer, Ron was a devoted father, a loving partner, and a man of many passions.
A proud 1988 graduate of John Marshall High School, Ron built a life centered around family, curiosity, and hard work. He married Lisa (Tupper) Highet on May 9, 1998, and together they raised three children: Adrian, Anthony (2003), and Ashley (2006). Though Ron and Lisa later parted ways, Ron’s greatest joy was his kids. He cherished their adventures together—splashing in the Wisconsin Dells, exploring the North Shore of Lake Superior, teaching them to appreciate the wonders of nature and many other treasured lifelong memories.
Ron’s life was enriched by the love and quiet strength of his partner, Aluet Deng, who stood by his side with unwavering devotion.
A man of many talents and skilled craftsman, Ron had a lifelong fascination with rocks—hunting, collecting, and polishing them with care. He also had a passion for ghost hunting, crystals, woodworking, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Ever the problem-solver, he was the family’s go-to tech guru, always ready to fix a computer or troubleshoot a gadget.
Ron dedicated 35+ years of his career to Mayo Clinic, starting as a Housekeeper and rising to the role of Health Unit Coordinator. His strong work ethic and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Highet; grandparents Lorraine and Kenneth Highet, Clara Gunufson, and Henry Helland; brother Robert Highet; and nephew Duane Schwingle.
Ron is survived by his children, Anthony, Adrian, and Ashley Highet; his mother and stepfather, Ione and Vern Speer; siblings Julie (Chuck) Fern and Jamie (Heidi) Highet; step-siblings Dan (Shelby) Speer and Sheila (Mike) Driscol; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and their children, who will miss his warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 10:00 am –1:00 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home (5421 Royal Place NW) in Rochester. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Ron’s love of rocks by placing a special stone in a meaningful place—whether along a hiking trail, by a lake, or in your own garden—as a tribute to his enduring spirit.
Ron’s legacy lives on in the memories he created, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed, but his adventurous heart and steadfast presence will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Ron. Your strength and kindness remain in the bedrock of our lives.
