Ruth King

Ruth Marie King, 83, of Rochester was called by God to her heavenly home at Cottagewood Senior Communities on December 8, 2020 due to Covid-19. Ruth was born on October 29, 1937 in Wykoff, MN to her parents Henry and Eva Jungblut. She graduated from Wykoff High School. During her childhood she attended church and after moving to Rochester she attended Rochester Pentecostal Church. Ruth worked at Rochester Methodist Hospital. She was a skilled seamstress and made many fashions and wore many of them. On February 19, 1972 she exchanged wedding vows with Gerald King. She was a hardworking farmer's wife. She helped feed and milk the cows and helped with all of the chores. Ruth was extremely proud of her two daughters and one granddaughter. Survivors include her husband Gerald King of Spring Valley; daughters, Grace King of Rochester and Wanda King of Spring Valley; granddaughter, Julie King; and a sister, Myrtle of Brooklyn Park, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorraine Miller. Our mother was always a quiet, uncomplaining, softhearted person. She loved animals and how they made you laugh when they played with you. Our funniest memory was how Ruth loved to eat. You could put a plate of sweets in front of her and she would choose the sweetest, gooiest kind there was. Ruth was always partial to fudge and strawberry milkshakes. She loved peanut brittle at Christmas too. Ruth always let you know if she was unhappy with something in her way of disapproving of things you had done. The family will have a graveside service officiated by Rev. Joe Haynes of Spring Valley First Baptist Church at 1:00pm on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine, MN.
