Maureen Welder passed away on December 10, 2025 at her home in Rochester, MN.
She was born November 29, 1937 in Spring Grove, MN to Grant and Bernice (Humble) Wermager. Maureen graduated from Rushford High School and Winona Secretarial School. She Came to Rochester in June 1957. She worked for a lawyer and the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. Maureen was married in 1961 and years later got divorced. In 1974 Maureen was employed at Rochester Community College, which later became Rochester Community & Technical College. She was coordinator of the Duplicating Department until she retired in 2007 after 32 years of service.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parent's Grant and Bernice Wermager, Sister Lela (Richard) Olsen and granddaughter Amanda Welder.
She is survived by three sons, Jeff (Laura), of Oak Creek, WS, Wesley of Rochester, MN and Clayton (Nan) of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Nicole Welder, Jamie VanProosdy and Danielle (Even) Ottaviani, Ryan Welder, and Erick Welder; and great-grandchildren, Johnny VanProosdy, Primrose VanProosdy, Emory Ottaviani, Evelyn Ottaviani, and Sunny Ottaviani.
Maureen was active in square dancing with the Silver Treads and with the Rochester Senior Gentem Kitchen Band. The band entertained at local Nursing facilities. She spent her leisure time knitting Afghans for family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Ranfranz and Vine Remembrance and Reception Centre (5482 Royal Pl NW, Rochester, MN 55901).
