Sherry Lawrence

Sherry Elaine Lawrence, Age 83, of Rochester, Minnesota, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away September 16, 2023, at Pinehaven Care Center, Pine Island, MN.

Sherry was born July 8, 1940, to Engvald and Anna Hegdahl in Landa, ND. She spent most of her youth in Kathryn ND, and Barnesville, MN. After graduating Barnesville High School, she attended NDSU studying music and art, where she met her husband, Tom. Tom and Sherry were married July 10, 1965, in Fargo ND. They then moved to Rochester to start the next chapter of their life.

Sherry was a very active member of the Congregational Church in Rochester serving on a number of committees, and participating in church groups. She was also the Treasurer for the church for 25 Years. After retiring as the church Treasurer, Sherry filled her time volunteering as a Master Gardener helping with community gardens, and designing other gardens. She also volunteered at the History Center of Olmsted County working on cataloging textiles, The Heritage Garden, and decorating Mayowood for the Christmas Tour.

Sherry enjoyed spending time with her family, including attending dance recitals for her granddaughters and sporting events for her grandson. Sherry also enjoyed using her free time for sewing and artistic pursuits.

Sherry is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Thomas Lawrence, her parents Engvald and Anna, and two brothers Raymond Hegdahl, and Elroy Hegdahl.

She is survived by her two sons, Peter (Brenda) and Michael (Joanne) and grandchildren Katie, Mason, Emma, and Hannah.

A memorial service will be held on Friday October 6th, 2023 at 11 AM at Congregational Church (974 Skyline Drive SW, Rochester, MN 55902) In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Congregational Church of Rochester, MN.
