Sherry Dawn Norris

Sherry Dawn (Anderson) Norris, 69, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, November 1, 2026, following a brief illness.

Sherry was born on September 14, 1957 to Albertus (Bert) and Emma (Biegel) Anderson in Tomah, WI. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1975. After high school, she attended University of Wisconsin - Stout where she graduated in 1979 with a degree in Home Economics and made many treasured, lifelong friends.

Sherry was united in marriage to Steven Norris at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta, WI on January 23, 1982. They had one daughter, Caitlin. They lived in Boise, Idaho for many years before returning to Minnesota in 2002. Sherry loved to spend her time quilting, gardening, and being with family and friends. She was a gifted quilter and lovingly made many quilts and other projects for family through the years, including Halloween costumes, bags, and dresses. She enjoyed spending time outside, and particularly enjoyed spending summers tending to her numerous beautiful flower planters and gardens.

Sherry worked at Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union until her retirement in 2022. Following her retirement, she was active in several groups at Bethel Lutheran Church, including the Bethel Friendly Quilters and the Sacristy team. She also volunteered at Channel One Food Bank.

She was a warm, kind, and loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, and friend. Sherry cared for others more than herself and had a lively sense of humor, making the world a brighter place through the joy and laughter she brought to those around her. She was loved deeply by her friends and family and will be profoundly missed.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 44 years, Steve of Rochester; daughter Caitlin of Rochester; siblings Darwin (Roxy) Anderson of Lancaster, WI, Sue (Kent) Johnson of Merrill, WI, Cindy (Nolan) Thesing of Sparta, WI, Scott (Sandy) Anderson of Sparta, WI, and Brian (Ann) Anderson of Sparta, WI; brother in law Keith Schultz of Sparta, WI; sister-in-law Deborah Norris (Larry Butler) of Bettendorf, IA; brothers-in-law John (Mary Beth) Norris of Columbia City, OR and Michael (Maureen) Norris of La Crescent, MN; many beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Emma Anderson; parents-in-law Norman and Violet Norris; sister Beverly Schultz; niece Jeannie Lehnartz; and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at Bethel Lutheran Church (810 3rd Ave SE, Rochester, MN). Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl NW, Rochester, MN), as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Stone Church Cemetery in Houston, Minnesota at a later date.
