Stanley W. de Vaal, 97, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away on September 26, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus. He was born on January 20, 1928, in Milbank, South Dakota to John and Cornelia (Van Asch) de Vaal.
Stanley graduated from Milbank High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1950 and was discharged in October of 1954. Stanley worked for IBM as a Test Group Tech, retiring in July of 1990. On July 3, 1955, he married Muriel Strege. Stanley enjoyed meteorology, aviation, American history, and above all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his three sons, Douglas and Gregory de Vaal of Rochester, and Jon de Vaal of Minneapolis; five grandchildren Ann, David, Peter, Holland, Wyatt and five great grandchildren Sarah, Madeline, Nikolai, Luca, Ethan, and Eliana. He was preceded in death by his parents John de Vaal and Cornelia van Asch de Vaal, wife Murial (Strege) de Vaal, and daughter Pamela (de Vaal) Fullem.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Ave. SW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
