Stephen Arthur Goergen

Stephen A. Goergen, 81, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on August 24, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, MN.

Stephen Arthur Goergen was born on August 21, 1945 in Winona, MN the son of Clarence and Ruth (Goetzman) Goergen. He graduated from Winona High School and attended VoTech for Electronics. Steve served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from January 30, 1963 to September 12, 1966 when he was honorably discharged.

Steve was united in marriage to Sharon Helgemoe on October 16, 1967 in Winona, MN. They made their home in Rochester, MN and were blessed with two children, Melinda and Marianne. Steve worked for IBM in the electronics department for 23 years.

Steve loved to fish, read books, watch westerns, loved watching the Twins, and arguing with his father-in-law about the Vikings vs. Green Bay matches.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Goergen or Rochester, MN; daughters, Melinda (George) Dressler of Albertville, MN and Marianne Goergen of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Damien Goergen, Katelynn Dressler, Jaylen Goergen, Allison Dressler, and Anaiya Goergen; great grandson, Damien Goergen Jr.; brother, Bernard (Vicki) Goergen of Winona, MN; sister, Beth (Mark) Parma of Winona, MN; brother-in-law, John Korupp of Winona, MN; sister-in-law, Carol Keller of Belleville, WI; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Mullen, Martha Korupp, and Judy Goergen; nephew, Scott Gordon.

Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, September 4, 2026 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona, MN.
