Steven Thomas Foley, beloved husband, father, and grandpa passed away April 6, 2024 at his home in Rochester, MN, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Steve was born on January 27,1955 in La Crosse, WI to Patrick and Phyllis (DuCharme) Foley.
He graduated from Seneca High School in 1973 and UW-La Crosse in 1977. During college he interned with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in St. Paul. He then joined IBM Rochester where he retired after 40 years.
On August 25, 1979 he married Cheryl (McManamy) Foley in Gays Mills, WI. They enjoyed their retirement life visiting and spoiling grandchildren and especially loved playing pickleball, cornhole, and baseball in the cul-de-sac with them. They also made time for a trip to Ireland with family to see the sights. Steve kept active playing senior softball, racquetball, and pickleball with an occasional beer afterwards.
Steve will be missed by his wife Cheryl, son Kyle (Michelle Roddy) Foley of Paradise Valley, AZ, daughter Ellyn (Andrew) Mulholland of Houston, MN, seven grandchildren: Noah, Cheryl, Grant, Clementine, Grace, Cecilia, and Leo. Mother Phyllis (DuCharme) Foley, siblings: Karen (Mat) Martin, Lori (Marty) Busch, Donna Foley, Nick Foley, Chris (Lori) Foley, Jan (Vince) Martin, Denise (Rick) Geiwitz, and Al (Tammy) Foley; mother-in-law Marilyn McManamy, sister-in-law Julie (Craig) Bell, brother-in-law Steve McManamy, and many nieces and nephews, his godson Ryan Hartley, cousins, and numerous friends and relatives.
Steve was preceded in death by his two sons Kent and Tom, father Pat, brother Davey, father-in-law Geno McManamy, and godson Todd Bell.
The family extends a special thank you to the Mayo Hospice team for their tremendous care and support.
Funeral Service will be held at 11AM onThursday, April 11, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation will start 1 hour prior to the service.
