Steven Peters

June 2, 1952 — September 9, 2023

Steven Richard Peters passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 71. Born on June 2, 1952, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, he was the beloved son of Bette (Matz) and Vernon Peters.

Steven was baptized and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Breckenridge. He completed his education at Breckenridge Schools, graduating with the Class of 1970. Following his passion for law enforcement, he pursued the Law Enforcement program at Alexandria Minnesota Technical College, graduating in 1972.

It was during his time at Greenwood Resort on Ottertail Lake where Steven met Nannette Lambert. They were married on November 4, 1972, at Breckenridge Lutheran Church. Their love and commitment to each other spanned nearly 51 years, filled with shared adventures and cherished moments.

Steven had an extraordinary love for all things mechanical, from bikes and motorcycles to cars and trucks. He nurtured a special bond with his grandchildren and took a keen interest in their activities, building lasting memories with each and every one of them.

A dedicated member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, he served as part of the church's sound system team for many years and found joy in participating in the men's bible study and breakfast group after his retirement.

In his professional life, Steven held various managerial roles. He began his career as Assistant Manager at Mills Fleet Farm in Alexandria and later managed the Menomonie, WI location in 1979. In 1980, he relocated to Rochester to spearhead the grand opening of a new Fleet Farm store as their Store Manager. However, Steven's career path eventually led him to Tom Kadlec Honda, where he excelled in sales and later in service until his retirement. He fostered strong relationships with his customers, offering his warm personality, extensive car knowledge, and unwavering dedication.

Throughout his battle with cancer, Steven faced adversity with unwavering strength and a positive mindset. He often found solace in the phrase, "It is what it is," exemplifying his resilience in the face of hardship.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Bette Peters, his grandparents Angeline and Roland Matz, Stella and Art Woods, and his great-niece Shaylee Rae Stollenwerk.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nan, their children Justin (Karen) and Travis (Jen), grandchildren Braden Cox, Fin, Henry, Azley, and Jace Peters; sisters, Shayla Hagen and Cindy Peters, his loving niece Jennifer, nephews Paul and Guy, as well as many other relatives and dear friends including special buddies Jim Beehler and Jim Enkers.
