Steven Witt

December 29, 1946 — May 7, 2025

Steven Ray Witt, 78, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Rochester, Minnesota. Born on December 29, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa. A spark of life, music and laughter extinguished too soon, Steve lived a vibrant and full life marked by deep connections, joyful music, and unwavering dedication to his work and family.

Steve proudly served his country as a member of the Navy CBs, where he developed the skills and camaraderie that would shape much of his life. After his service, he found his calling as an electrician-a career that spanned over five decades. For 55 years, Steve was a proud union electrician who held a special place in his heart for the brotherhood he found among fellow tradesmen. Known affectionately as "the singing electrician," Steve brought music and laughter to job sites across the region. His voice-often belting out favorites like "Delilah"-was as much a part of the workday as any tool or wire.

Beyond his professional life, Steve was a man of boundless energy and charisma. He had a tremendous love of life and people. His quick wit, infectious laughter, and signature sarcasm made him unforgettable to all who met him. Whether striking up conversations with strangers or lighting up family gatherings with stories and songs, Steve was always the life of the party.

Together with his beloved wife Sharon (Fuller) Witt-his partner in life for over 50 years-Steve shared not only a deep love but also a passion for music. The couple owned and operated Star Karaoke for 16 years, bringing joy to countless people through song and celebration. Their karaoke nights were legendary among friends and family alike.

Steve's greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon; their children: Devin (Kris) Witt of St. Paul, MN; Tammy (Witt) Ratajczyk of Stewartville, MN; Trevor (Christine) Witt of Cheyenne, WY; and Shawn (Tom) Wampach of Rochester, MN. He was a cherished grandfather to 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings: Ronnie Witt of Cresco, IA; Dennis (Carol) Witt of Desoto, WI; Pam (Don) Burnikel of Lime Springs, IA; and Kim Witt of Cresco, IA; along with many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Steve.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Art and Louise (Johnson) Witt; sister Cheryl Witt; niece April Moore; and nephew "Little" Ronnie Witt.

A man whose presence could fill any room with warmth and laughter, Steve leaves behind a legacy rich in love, music, friendship, and unforgettable memories. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him-and may we all remember to sing a little louder in his honor.
