Susan L. Ryberg, 60, of Rochester, MN, unexpectedly passed away in Rochester on May 1, 2026.
She was born in Rochester, MN, April 1, 1966, to her loving parents Glenn and Lorraine Ryberg. She grew up on her family's farm in Grand Meadow, where she loved entertaining cats, dogs, a horse, and playing with her older brother David. Together with her family in the off-season, they enjoyed traveling to as many States as they could as well as traveling to Sweden to meet relatives.
She attended Grand Meadow elementary and high school and graduated valedictorian in the Meadowlark's class of 1984. She obtained her BS in Math Education at Northwestern College - St Paul in 1988.
After graduation, she taught at James Valley Christian School in Huron, SD. A few years later, she returned to Rochester and further developed her computer technical skills. For over 20 years, she worked at the IT Help Desk at Mayo Clinic.
She loved going to the Minnesota State Fair, reading books by authors such as Laura Ingalls Wilder and Jane Austen, and enjoyed pass-times of golfing, fishing, and downhill skiing. She enjoyed her dogs. She avidly followed the MN Vikings.
Susan's greatest joy was taking her nieces and nephew on trips and adventures to national parks and historic sites such as Sequoia, Yosemite, Estes, Great Smokey Mountain, and Glacier National Park. She always made sure they had bikes and skis that fit and attended as many of their sporting events and theater productions as she could. She was also a special great-aunt to 15 grands and was often spotted passing out Smarties candies to them.
The last several years, she lived with her parents, supporting them with care, through the Covid epidemic, until her death. She also volunteered at Channel One and the Rochester Public Library.
She was a member of Autumn Ridge Church, sang in the choir and, for some years, attended singles and Community Bible Study groups. She had a burden for friends and family to accept the Lord as their Savior. For this reason, her family does not grieve without hope!
She was preceded in death by her brother David and survived by her parents Glenn and Lorraine, sister-in-law Dianne (Larry) Orth, nieces Macai (Luke) Olson (Judah, Theo, Cedar, Josetta, Leif, Leo) of N. St Paul, Renee (Connor) Cabalka (Karis, Alythea, Zoe, Sophia) of Rochester, and Rebecca (Samuel) Marsh (Vivian, Ruth, Boone) of Pilot Mountain, NC, and nephew Ben (Brittney) Orth (Adelaide, Ruby) of Liberty Lake, WA. She was beloved and cherished by her numerous Lindholm and Ryberg cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 7, 5-7 PM, at Ranfranz & Vine; Celebration of Life Friday, May 8, 11 AM, at Autumn Ridge Church, Timothy Chapel, with a time of visitation for family and friends 10 AM. A lunch will be served. A private family burial will follow at the Grand Meadow Cemetery.
Donations in her memory are recommended to Samaritan's Purse.
