Vivian Hallin

Vivian Lynn Hallin, 82, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2025. Born in Viking Township on April 20, 1943, Vivian graduated from Newfolden Community School. She married Gerald Hallin in October of 1963 and later welcomed two sons, Chad and Todd. Vivian and Gerald spent many years working side-by-side at Home of Economy in Grand Forks, ND. As a family, they spent each summer traveling across the country in their camper. In 1992, Vivian and Gerald, along with their son Todd, purchased the Dairy Queen in Dawson, MN. Vivian was a warm, joyful face that all recognized and knew. In 2005, the family sold the Dairy Queen and purchased the Quiznos located in the subway level of the Marriott in Rochester, MN. A few years later, they opened another Dairy Queen located next door. At work, Vivian was well known for being a quiet anchor, always ready with a reassuring word or hug.

Vivian loved to laugh, gardening and flowers, shopping, and cherishing time with her grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Inga Kezar; and brothers Curtis, Harlan, and Kevin. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gerald Hallin; two sons, Chad (Gildania) Hallin, Todd Hallin; three grandchildren Nicole (Cody) Olesen, Jill (Zach) Semler, Ryan Helmoski; four great-grandchildren Norah and Elliott Olesen, Easton and Nolan Semler; and siblings Albert, Dick, Donald, Florence, Irving, Katherine, and Leann.

Vivian touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, and generous heart will be remembered forever.

Friends and family are invited to Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on November 29, 2025, at 11:00 am for a celebration of life. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
