William Brueck

December 14, 1948 — October 11, 2025

William Richard Brueck, 76, of Pine Island, Minnesota, passed away at his home on October 11, 2025. Bill was born on December 14, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Frederick Dall Brueck and Esther Madeline Hill Brueck. He graduated from Ballard High School in Huxley, Iowa, and from Iowa State University with a bachelor's and a master's degree in Computer Science. He married Linda Carol Emmert of Minburn, Iowa, on August 24, 1968.

Bill was an ever-curious man. He never stopped being interested in how things worked, from machines and electronics to the world around him. He worked with computers at several businesses until he opened his own business, A+ Computer. He enjoyed the many relationships he built with employees and customers of A+, and was an active member of Rotary and of the churches he and Linda attended through the years, most recently the Grace Methodist Church in Kasson, Minnesota. Bill had a strong faith in God and continued to strengthen that faith by engaging in Bible study with his church community. As his computer business wound down, he devoted more of his time to attending auctions with his grandson Ryan and interacting with the tractor collecting community. He also enjoyed hunting morels, spelunking (in his younger years), and playing SomeRset, of which he was one of the last great masters. His wonderful Christmas letters were treasured by their many recipients. Above all, he loved, and was loved by, his family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; his children, Aaron (Nicole) Brueck and Carrie (John) Morris; his grandchildren, Chandler (Shelby Adams) Breuer, Bailey Breuer, Ryan Brueck, and Andrew Morris; his great-grandchildren, Oliver Breuer, Rowan Breuer, and Nolan Adams; his sister, Jessie Pettie, of Ethel, Louisiana; his brothers-in-law, Darrell (Nancy) Emmert of Dallas Center, Iowa, and Mark Emmert of Minburn, Iowa; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Randy Pettie.

There will be a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place, NW, Rochester.
