Marie Antoinette (King) Toews, 91 of Rochester, passed away on May 27, 2019 at her home. She was born on June 15, 1927 in Enderlin, ND to Charles and Jennie (Patterson) King.
Marie graduated from Mankato High School and received her bachelor's degree from Winona State University. She married Alquinn Toews on June 2, 1948 in Mankato, MN. Marie taught for many years for the Rochester public schools. On December 29, 2012, she married Ron Andersen in Rochester. Marie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir, as well as being a long-time member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, traveling, spending time with her family, and lounging at the lake cabin. After retirement, many winters were spent in Sun City, AZ.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Andersen of Rochester; two daughters, Jeanne Carter of Sioux Falls, SD and Annette Toews (Bob Hicks) of Saint Paul, MN; one grandson, Christopher (Bridget) Carter of Rochester and two great grandsons, Ian and David; one sister, Jennette Dittman of Fargo, ND; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Rev. Alquinn Toews; son, Richard Toews; sisters Kathlyn Lundgren Lee and Genevieve King; son-in-law, David Carter; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Dittman and George Lundgren.
The family will have private graveside services.

I taught with Marie at Golden Hill. She was a very effective and caring teacher. My condolences to her family.
Mrs Toews was my teacher at Golden Hill and because of her I have always loved to read. I still have the cards and books she gave me many years ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
Mrs. Toews was my 3rd grade teacher at Golden Hill (1978-79). She was one of my favorites and helped me to love to read. My prayers are with her family and friends. Lisa
So sorry to hear of her passing. My prayers are with the family. She was the best teacher I ever had. I still have my " honor" card issued by her in the 4th grade ( I'll be 50 this year). What a wonderful woman.

I was sorry to read of Maries passing. She was a partner in the teaching world for many years. My daughter Amy and I enjoyed many trips up to her and Al’s cabin over MEA vacations. Our prayers go out to her husband and family.
