Mary D. Mentink, 88, died on June 25, 2021. Mary was born in Mason City, Iowa on September 24, 1932 to Frank and Susan Jansen. She married John Mentink on November 11, 1949 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City, Iowa. Together they made their home in Mason City and raised three children: Deborah, Annette, and Neal. Mary worked as a receptionist at Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic for 22 years where she greeted everyone with her warm smile. She was active in the Holy Family Church Circle where she shared her baking and served others. Mary enjoyed spending time at her lake home in Minnesota where she created many memorable traditions with her family. She especially enjoyed having her grandchildren visit and spending time swimming, taking walks, and playing games with them.
In 2008, Mary and John moved to Realife Cooperative in Rochester, MN where they made many dear friends. Mary enjoyed all that Realife had to offer including playing cards, bingo, attending church services, and movie nights. She was known by many as "Sweet Mary" because of her kind and gentle ways. Mary liked to look her best. She dressed fashionably, enjoyed great accessories, and always had her hair and makeup done. Mary loved being with her great grandchildren: baking with them, attending their athletic events, sharing stories, and watching them play.
Mary was proceeded in death by her husband, John; parents Frank and Susan Jansen; sister Loretta Anderson and brother Kenneth Jansen.
