Cindy Nell VanHouten, 62, of Rochester, MN passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Cindy was born July 6, 1959 in Rochester, MN the daughter of George and Dolores (Schoonover) VanHouten. She was a 1978 graduate of Lake City High School and enrolled in the horticulture program at Rochester Vo-Tech. Cindy worked at K-Mart in Rochester for 25 years and Walmart for 10 years. She was a member of Rochester Baptist Church. Cindy enjoyed making wedding flowers, gardening, and crafts. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews along with family and friends.
She is survived by her siblings, Gary (Linda) Rubin, Frank (Linda) Rubin, George (Debra) VanHouten, and sister-in-law, Elfi Rubin. She is also survived by nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Sam Hilleshiem; brother, David Rubin; sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Dale Pagel; niece-in-law, Jill Hilleshiem.
A funeral service celebrating Cindy's life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 13, 2022 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, MN.

Cindy and I were good friends in elementary school. I have many fond memories and will cherish them always.
